Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 has become one of the main contenders for the title of "Game of the Year 2025." Sandfall Interactive's project has been receiving rave reviews from critics and players for several months.
But game director Guillaume Brosch admitted that the team never strived for awards. In an interview, he said that awards like GOTY are just a nice addition, and the real value is in player feedback. According to him, the developers have already achieved more than they expected: hundreds of messages from fans have proven that Expedition 33 has become something personal for many.
Interestingly, Brosch himself is rooting not for his own game, but for Megabonk — a popular roguelike in the bullet hell genre. He admitted with a smile that he spends too much time in it: "Megabonk is my whole life. Help!" — the developer jokes, adding that he is sincerely happy for the success of his colleagues in this release-rich year.
And this is easy to understand — 2025 is rich in high-profile premieres: Death Stranding 2, Ghost of Yotei, Hades II and Silent Hill f. Just mentioning Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 among such projects is an achievement. And if Brosch does manage to tear himself away from Megabonk, he may be able to celebrate his own victory as well.
