The new installment continues the ideas of the 2019 original — a combination of humor, non-linear decisions, and classic RPG mechanics from Obsidian Entertainment. The developers had more time, budget, and freedom, provided by Microsoft, to make the project larger and deeper in every way.
Reviews will appear on October 23, six days before the release on October 29, 2025. The decision shows the publisher's confidence — an early embargo usually means that the company is satisfied with the quality of the project.
Journalists received the full version in advance, so detailed reviews are expected. Players will be able to decide whether to buy the game before release.
As a reminder, The Outer Worlds 2 will be released directly into Xbox Game Pass.
