Sony appears to be gearing up for the release of a new console. According to recent reports, PlayStation 6 production will begin sooner than gamers expected.
Although PlayStation 5 remains relevant, rumors about its successor are getting louder. According to reports, PS6 will be released in late 2027 or 2028, which coincides with forecasts from analysts and industry insiders.
New information came from YouTube blogger Moore’s Law Is Dead. He claims to have documents confirming the launch of PS6 production in early 2027. If the information is correct, Sony has approved the schedule — starting assembly in the first half of the year should allow the console to be released a few months later.
Previously, PS5 chief architect Mark Cerny, in an interview about the Amethyst project, said that the technologies of the new console are still in the simulation stage. It was then assumed that the release would take place no earlier than 2028. But leaks indicate that development is moving faster, and Sony has moved on to the next stage.
If the rumors are confirmed, the company will maintain the usual seven-year cycle between generations — the same was the gap between PS4 and PS5. This means that in 2026 the first official news about PlayStation 6 may appear, and in 2027 the console will be released on the market, opening a new era.
