Sony has not yet disclosed official figures, but industry reports show that the launch was another strong success for PlayStation Studios.
According to GSD, Ghost of Yotei debuted at No. 2 in the European sales chart, behind EA Sports FC 26, which held the top spot for the third week in a row.
The opening of Ghost of Yotei almost repeats the debut of Ghost of Tsushima in 2020, which became one of the biggest hits of that year. For comparison, Ghost of Tsushima was released during the gaming boom of the pandemic.
The report confirms that this is the largest PlayStation premiere since Spider-Man 2 (October 2023). High sales show that PlayStation fans ignored fears and a possible boycott, actively supporting the new project, which was liked by both critics and players.
For comparison, EA Sports FC 26 lost 62% of sales compared to last week, but retained the lead due to a huge player base. In third place was Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2 Double Pack for Switch, which started weaker - sales amounted to about 25% of the success of Super Mario 3D All-Stars in 2020.
