Netflix is expanding its gaming division and plans to use generative AI to create interactive entertainment.
The company has opened a position for Director of Gen AI Gaming, who will develop strategy, oversee the implementation of AI mechanics, and collaborate with studios. The goal is to improve the game catalog and create new forms of entertainment.
In recent years, Netflix has been actively advancing into gaming. The service has purchased several studios and released mobile versions of major games, including the remastered Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. Now, the corporation wants to experiment with AI, as Xbox is doing with the MUSE system and EA with its ChatGPT-based chatbot.
The new director must have over 10 years of experience in the gaming industry and experience with machine learning technologies. The salary ranges from $430,000 to $840,000. Netflix sees its games as a platform for testing innovative forms of interactivity, reminiscent of projects like Black Mirror: Bandersnatch and Squid Game: Unleashed.
The specialist's tasks will include developing a Gen AI strategy, creating prototypes of game mechanics, implementing AI in studio processes, and establishing partnerships with external developers and research centers.
