In an interview with Wired Japan on Instagram*, the author of Death Stranding and Metal Gear Solid said that he wants to transfer some tasks to AI. But it's not about writing scripts or designing worlds — AI, according to Kojima, should be engaged in monotonous and technical work that slows down the process. For example, if every tree in the game must be unique, someone must model them all manually — and it is this kind of work that can be entrusted to a machine.

Kojima stressed that he does not see AI as a threat to creators, calling it an "assistant who does not sleep and does not complain." He believes that technology should relieve developers of routine: automate lip-syncing, correct animations, create repeating elements of the environment. "I want to work with AI, not just use it," he said.

Kojima says that AI will not replace humans, but will help them unlock their potential and free up time for real creativity.
