Despite this, the game is showing a solid start, boosted by high demand for the version for the new Switch 2.
Dring noted that 51% of all boxed copies were for Switch 2, with the remainder for the original Switch. The first week in the UK only provides a preliminary view of commercial success. The full picture will become clear after the publication of the Japanese Famitsu charts and Circana data for North America. Early figures indicate strong digital demand: Z-A leads in the eShop for Switch and Switch 2. As the first Pokémon game to be released on two console generations, the game may maintain stable sales.
Developer Game Freak and publishers Nintendo and The Pokémon Company presented Z-A as the second installment in the Legends series after Arceus. The game takes place in Lumiose City in the Kalos region, reimagining the franchise formula through a narrative open world.
