The game will be released on October 28, 2025 on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox and Nintendo Switch. The project became possible after the creators of the original approved the idea and entrusted Smallthing Studios with the development of the franchise.
According to founder and game director Massimiliano Calamai and lead designer Fabrizio Rizzo, Simon the Sorcerer Origins will be a new starting point for the series. The prequel will combine the spirit of the original with modern ideas: hand-drawn graphics, deep dialogues and the ability to choose between classic point & click controls and a modern scheme with direct character control. The story unfolds shortly before the events of the first part and shows the young Simon from a new perspective - just as impudent, but more emotional and mature.
Smallthing Studios also revealed future projects. These include a remake of the original Simon the Sorcerer, Sword of Sodan 2, a sequel to the classic 1988 fighting game, Where the River Dies, an adventure in which four heroes search for the origins of evil, and 14:18, a psychological horror with biblical motifs. All games will be released on PC, Mac, PlayStation, Xbox and Switch.
