Several months ago, Sony reported that PS5 sales exceeded 80 million copies. The result is outdated — the company has set a new record.
Analyst Mat Piscatella reported that according to a recent report from the research company Circana (which also publishes monthly game sales rankings), in September, PlayStation 5 officially outsold PlayStation 3. This means that total console sales reached 87.4 million units — that's how much it took to surpass the result of Sony's sixth-generation systems.
PS5 has established itself as one of the company's most successful consoles and is approaching the next goal — to catch up with PS4, which has sold more than 117 million.
