The streaming platform is working on the project together with WildBrain Studios — the same studio team that created Sonic Prime. The creators promise dynamics, humor and the signature atmosphere of adventure.
Animation work has been underway for some time, but details of the plot and team composition have not yet been disclosed. It is unofficially reported that this is a full-fledged animated series with Crash in the lead role. Previously, the character appeared on Netflix as a guest in Skylanders Academy, but now he will become the star of his own franchise.
The Crash Bandicoot series was released in 1996 on the first PlayStation, created by Naughty Dog. The rights to the franchise passed from Universal Interactive to Activision, which now, as part of Microsoft, continues to develop the world of Crash. Popularity was revived after Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy (2017) and Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time.
WildBrain has experience with numerous projects for Netflix, including Carmen Sandiego, Johnny Test and Go, Dog. Go!, but it was the success of Sonic Prime that convinced the platform to collaborate on Crash Bandicoot. At the same time, Netflix is developing animations for Minecraft, Tomb Raider, Splinter Cell and Clash of Clans, and also plans series based on board games such as Catan and Monopoly. It seems that Netflix intends to strengthen its position in the gaming adaptation market.
