Two key developers of Multiversus — Justin Fischer and Brock Feldman — have opened their own studio, Airlock Games. Previously, they held the positions of Director of Production and Technical Director, but after the closure of PlayerFirst Games, they decided to start all over again.
Fischer and Feldman are using the experience gained from working on large projects like Disney Infinity and Medal of Honor to assemble a small team and focus on developing compact games. Their goal is to release projects faster and not depend on the long and costly cycles of AAA production.
Airlock Games' first project will be What the Stars Forgot, a management simulator with horror elements inspired by Star Trek and The Thing. The game is made in a 16-bit style and will be released in Early Access on Steam in late 2025.
After many years of working on big-budget games, the authors want to return to creative experiments and risk — something that, according to them, has become a rarity in modern game development.
