This week, Microsoft confirmed the restoration of its services after a global Azure outage that disabled many services worldwide.
The outage affected Microsoft 365, Xbox, Minecraft, as well as companies like Starbucks, Capital One, and Alaska Airlines. According to Microsoft, the cause of the incident was an "accidental configuration change" and DNS issues. The company regularly updated information on social media and on the Azure status page, reporting on the restoration of operations.
Xbox Support confirmed that gaming services have been fully restored, although some users reported needing to restart their console for access.
"From approximately 16:00 UTC on October 29, 2025, Microsoft customers and services on AFD may have experienced delays, timeouts, and errors. We have confirmed that the cause was an accidental configuration," the company's status page stated.
The incident occurred a week after a global Amazon Web Services outage that disrupted major Internet resources.
