But the situation has changed dramatically. Much of the credit goes to Proton and WINE, but Steam Deck should also be noted. According to the latest data, almost 90% of all Windows games now run on Linux. This is especially relevant given that Windows 10 remains vulnerable from a security point of view, and many users cannot or do not want to upgrade to Windows 11.
Of course, not everything is perfect. Some large and popular multiplayer games still do not support Linux, and this will have to be accepted.
But for fans of single-player games and indie projects, Linux is more viable today than ever before. And over time, the situation will only improve.
