Initially, the project grew slowly, likely due to the change in the main character and the shift to a first-person perspective, but positive reviews and word-of-mouth ensured its lasting popularity. In just six months, from April to September 2025, the game sold approximately 1.14 million copies.
Wide availability on various platforms also supports sales. A port for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on February 27, 2026, coinciding with the global launch of Resident Evil Requiem.
Resident Evil 7: Biohazard is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, iOS, iPadOS, PC (Windows and macOS), and Nintendo Switch. The version for Nintendo Switch 2 will be released on February 27, 2026.
