In a new interview, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser spoke about an unrealized project of the studio, which was supposed to transport players to the Middle Ages with elements of mythology. The idea never reached the stage of full-fledged development.
Houser clarified that the game was discussed only at the concept level and they didn't even start writing the script. But he believes that the idea could have successfully turned into a full-fledged project.
"We were experimenting with the concept of knights, trying to create a version of a mythological game. I still like this idea."
Rockstar is known for the GTA and Red Dead Redemption series, but previously the studio released a wider variety of games, including Midnight Club racing and experimental sports projects like Table Tennis. According to Houser, the attempt to create a medieval project was not the first and not the last in a series of studio experiments.
Interestingly, rumors about a medieval game circulated back in 2019, but their veracity remained doubtful. Now that Dan Houser has confirmed its existence, it becomes clear that the project was real.
