Thermal Grizzly will release a device that protects video cards from overheating and melting connectors. The new WIREVIEW PRO II GPU adapter costs 120 euros and is capable of monitoring current, voltage, temperature and power. In critical situations, it even turns off the computer - if the complete splitter cable is connected.

The adapter will be useful for owners of cards with high power consumption - for example, Nvidia 80 and 90 series, which often have melting 12VHPWR connectors. The new 12V-2×6 standard only partially solves the problem: the current is not always distributed evenly, and individual contacts overheat. This leads to deformation of the plug and costly repairs.

WIREVIEW PRO II GPU is powered through the video card, cooled by a semi-passive fan, and the aluminum case helps dissipate heat. The device stores parameter and error logs for up to 360 days and is compatible with almost any 12-volt connector.

Thermal Grizzly claims that the adapter sets its own safety thresholds - when they are exceeded, it emits an audible signal and displays a warning on the built-in display. The volume of the signal is not yet known.

The price of 120 euros (about 140 dollars) seems overpriced, but, according to the company, the gadget can save not only a video card for 3000 dollars, but also the entire system from a short circuit or fire.
