Nintendo has published a new financial report, confirming the success of the new Switch 2 console. The device was released a few months ago and is in high demand worldwide, selling faster than all previous Nintendo systems in the same period.
In its first 4 months, Switch 2 sold over 10.36 million units, including 4.54 million consoles sold in the last quarter — the best second quarter in the company's history, surpassing the Wii's record (2.65 million).
The corporation has updated its annual forecasts: it now expects 19 million consoles and 48 million games to be sold, instead of the previous 15 million and 45 million. The old Switch is also showing excellent results — 4 million devices sold (previously 4.5 million) and 125 million games.
Mario Kart World became the best-selling game on Switch 2 with 9.57 million copies, and Donkey Kong Bananza sold 3.49 million copies.
On the first Switch, the record holders remain the same:
- Mario Kart 8 Deluxe — 69.56 million
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons — 48.62 million
- Super Smash Bros. Ultimate — 36.93 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild — 33.34 million
- Super Mario Odyssey — 29.84 million
- Pokemon Scarlet / Violet — 27.61 million
- Pokemon Sword / Shield — 26.96 million
- The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom — 22.15 million
- Super Mario Party — 21.23 million
- New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe — 18.53 million
The total number of games on Switch 2 exceeded 20.62 million, and on the original Switch — more than 1.45 billion. The results demonstrate that Nintendo continues to dominate the market, and the launch of Switch 2 has become one of the biggest successes in the company's history.
