Nearly eight years after its release, Shiro Games' strategy game Northgard will receive its last major version. On December 4, 2025, Northgard: Definitive Edition will be released, replacing the standard edition in digital stores. The new version will combine the original game, some DLC, and several new elements.
The Definitive Edition will include: the Cross of Vidar DLC, three previously released additional clans — Snake (Sváfnir), Dragon (Nidhogg), and Horse (Svadilfari), which are no longer sold, as well as a digital artbook.
Users of the base version will benefit the most — it will be updated to the Definitive Edition for free. The developers advise new players to wait until December 4: a discount promotion will start with the release of the final edition.
Additionally, the game will receive a new Valhalla biome, Bifrost locations (for single-player and multiplayer modes), and a Frostbite module, increasing rewards for each activated challenge. The in-game store will also be reworked.
Northgard is a strategy game with survival elements set in Scandinavian mythology, similar to The Settlers series.
The game was released on PC on March 7, 2018, and later arrived on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and then on iOS and Android.
