Assassin’s Creed Shadows is preparing for release on Nintendo Switch 2. Digital Foundry experts decided to check how close the version for the Nintendo console is to the versions for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The release of Assassin’s Creed Shadows on Switch 2 is scheduled for December 2, 2025. According to the editors, the port looks ambitious, but it is not without technical compromises. The main difference from high-performance consoles is the lack of ray tracing. Because of this, the scenes look a little flat, and the lighting is less natural. The developers replaced dynamic lighting with pre-calculated lighting to improve performance and stability of the game.
Experts also noted the disappearance of motion blur for individual objects, degraded shadows and fog effect, as well as image quality, probably due to video compression. Despite this, Digital Foundry believes that Switch 2 will get a visually decent version.
