In 2027, people will be able to get a special edition of the "Terra Mystica" board game with new illustrations, improved wooden figures and components, multi-layered game boards, as well as the integrated Automa expansion.
"Terra Mystica", which was released back in 2012, is a classic board game designed by game designers Jens Drögemüller and Helge Osterthag. It ranks 36th out of thousands of games on the BoardGameGeek portal and is one of the 25 games inducted into the Hall of Fame.
On November 4, Steamforged Games launched a campaign on the Gamefound crowdfunding platform for a special edition of this board game, which was named Terra Mystica Special Edition. The team needed only 13 minutes and 17 seconds to fulfill the main goal – to collect $52,177 (4,244,266 rubles).
There are still 12 days left until the end of the campaign, and thanks to sponsors, the developers already have $590,676 (48,047,724 rubles) in their piggy bank. In the special edition, the playing field has been redesigned. It is still easily recognizable, but at the same time looks more impressive.
Steamforged Games has added two-layer faction tablets, reference notes with descriptions of faction abilities and rules. The figures have acquired more unique shapes and images, and many other changes have been made.
This is the most complete and up-to-date version of the "Terra Mystica" board game ever created. It includes content that was not presented in the previous Big Box version, such as Special Landscapes and a variant of the main playing field from Fire & Ice.
The main box of the Special Edition contains both the base game and the Automa add-on, which introduces a single-player mode. And the Special Edition Expansion Vault provides access to Fire & Ice, Merchants of the Sea, Special Landscapes, Mini Expansion Promo Tiles and the upcoming Fan Factions add-on.
The Settler set can be pre-ordered for $120.10, the Terraformer for $266.89, and the Town Founder for $286.90. Terra Mystica Special Edition will reach buyers in April 2027.
