Although it is unknown how many people are playing on mobile devices, the results on PC look weak compared to other installments in the series. Sonic Frontiers reached 19,181 concurrent players, and Sonic Racing: CrossWorlds reached 13,630. Even Sonic Superstars (2,820) and Sonic Origins (2,668) showed smaller numbers, but were released on all consoles, which distributed the audience.
Sonic Rumble is only available on PC and mobile devices, but even that didn't help. Players note that the internal economy is geared towards the mobile market and is irritating. Because of this, the game received a large number of negative reviews - 48% positive ratings.
Sonic Rumble's gameplay is reminiscent of Fall Guys, only with characters from the Sonic universe. But instead of focusing on the console audience, the developers focused on microtransactions. It is currently unknown whether a console version of the project will appear.
Sonic Rumble is available on Steam, iOS, and Android.
