Many who played Clair Obscur Expedition 33 praised the soundtrack, and some expected the OST to compete for a Grammy Award. However, the nominees were recently announced, and the list did not please fans of the game.
The selection includes DLC, a well-known game-service, and some fresh releases:
- Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora — Secrets of the Spires
- Helldivers 2
- Indiana Jones And The Great Circle
- Star Wars Outlaws : Wild Card & A Pirate's Fortune
- Sword of the Sea
Journalists noted that the publisher of Clair Obscur — Kepler Interactive — applied to participate in two nominations: Best Video Game Soundtrack and Best Song Written for Visual Media.
It is unknown why Clair Obscur Expedition 33 did not make the list of nominees. Some players have a theory that this may be due to the composer's origin — he is French.
There is an opinion that major awards rarely pay attention to "international projects" unless it is some specific "international nomination."
EternityTheory pointed out a feature of the nominees from the presented list:
My first thought was: "Well, that doesn't apply here because Helldivers and Arrowhead are Swedish." But I checked, and of course, the composer of Helldivers 2 is American, like all the other nominated composers. The only possible exception is Toprak, an American of Turkish origin who has lived in Los Angeles for more than 20 years, so he is also definitely American.
