According to Chris Stockman, former project director of the original Saints Row, no studio is capable of surpassing Rockstar today.
In an interview with FRVR, he stated: "Catching up with GTA is no longer possible." According to him, GTA Online has become more than just a game — it's a way of life and a giant brand, the success of which can only be repeated if Rockstar itself fails.
If GTA VI fails, it will be like the E.T. catastrophe on Atari — only worse, because today's budgets are colossal.
But Stockman remains optimistic. He believes that the gaming industry is so large that there will always be room for fresh ideas and smaller projects. "There's nothing wrong with being second if you play your cards right," he concluded.
