A long-standing discussion points to an online experience in the Horizon Zero Dawn and Forbidden West universe, an ambitious project that will combine the exploration of the world and mechanical creatures of the series with multiplayer mechanics in the style of Monster Hunter. South Korean giant NCSoft, known for its MMOs such as Lineage and Blade & Soul, is involved in the development, invited by Sony to work on a new service game.
The NeoGAF forum reports that hints come from the official NCSoft website, where a "secret" project is among the projects being showcased at G-STAR. Other confirmed games — Time Takers, Cinder City, Aion 2 and Limit Zero Breakers — leave no doubt: the hidden announcement may be Horizon Online.
According to sources, Sony and Guerrilla Games are counting on more than a million active players. But this is not the studio's only project: another multiplayer game is being developed in parallel.
If the rumors are confirmed, Horizon Online will be an important milestone in Sony's strategy in the development of service games. Everything will be decided at G-STAR 2025.
