Meanwhile, forecasts for sales of the company's next console are beginning to appear, and some analysts are showing surprising optimism. Windows Central journalist Jez Corden shared his expectations and is confident that the new Xbox, effectively a hybrid PC with support for Steam, Epic Games Store and Microsoft Store, will be one of the biggest successes in history.
According to Corden, the market is changing rapidly, and if Valve releases its own full-fledged console, Microsoft will be able to adapt first. He believes that the future system, presumably Xbox Prime, will be able to sell 20 million units in its first year. For comparison, Nintendo Switch 2 is forecast to sell 18 million.
To understand the scale, previous Microsoft consoles showed the following results (according to VGChartz):
- Xbox 360 — 8.5 million;
- Xbox One — 10 million;
- Xbox Series — 11 million.
According to Corden's estimate, about 20 million Xbox owners will upgrade to the new hybrid Windows console in the first year after release.
