Crystal Dynamics has confirmed another round of layoffs, with 30 employees losing their jobs. Management calls it a "difficult but necessary restructuring."
LinkedIn clarified that the layoffs affected "various departments and projects." This is the third such move in 2025: in March, 17 people left the team, and in August, another round of cuts followed after Microsoft canceled the reboot of Perfect Dark, which Crystal Dynamics was working on with The Initiative.
The studio explained the decisions by changes in the market and the need to "optimize work" on the next installment of Tomb Raider. It is emphasized that the key project remains a priority and continues to develop.
It is worth recalling that the new part of the franchise was announced in 2022. Since then, only one concept art has been shown — it appeared in early 2024. The lack of materials, combined with another wave of cuts, increases the concern of fans.
Crystal Dynamics notes that it appreciates the support of the community and will "soon share the impressive results of the team's work."
