Horizon Steel Frontiers is a new online action RPG being developed by NCSoft in collaboration with PlayStation. The project embodies the original concept of Guerrilla Games, conceived during the development of Horizon Zero Dawn.
Jan-Bart van Beek, the author of the original idea for the series and the current head of the European division of PlayStation Studios, reacted to the announcement of Steel Frontiers on social network X. He noted that the multiplayer component has always been part of the Horizon concept.
«From the very beginning, we envisioned Horizon as a game with a multiplayer mode. LEGO Horizon Adventures was our first small step, and Steel Frontiers is a big one. This is just the beginning, there is much more to come, and we look forward to showing it».
According to Bloomberg journalist Jason Schreier, the desire to create multiplayer in Horizon is so great that Guerrilla Games will release a separate online game in the series even before the official sequel to Forbidden West, which has already been confirmed.
