It recently became known that Russia has begun developing a "project comparable to the American Pentiment and the Estonian Disco Elysium."
The new game, called "Stairway to Heaven," is being developed by "Good Games" LLC, registered in Moscow. The company managed to obtain a grant from the state in the amount of 20 million rubles, as well as approximately 10 million more through co-financing.
The main character of "Stairway to Heaven" will be a teenager, and the authors will show "a teenager's crisis, resolved through the recognition of responsibility for the city and the country."
It is noted that "the image of the Russian Orthodox Church as a life-giving force, gathering Russia and helping to do good, will be shown as a common thread in the game's plots."
According to the developers, this game "will contribute to the preservation and understanding of intangible cultural heritage; it will transform the hagiographic texts of the Russian North, legends about the miracle of Ambrose of Sinytsia, and the iconography of the \"Infant's Play\" into a game mechanics format."
The authors intend to reveal the identity of the Russian North using the example of the Vologda Oblast, which serves as a prototype for the setting, and the plot will contribute to the formation of a local identity and love for the homeland in the player.
The game is expected to be released in January 2027. There are plans to release not only on VK Play, but also on Steam.
