The lawyers have questions about the new project.
Recently, No Players Online was released on Steam. Soon the game was withdrawn from sale, and its page was removed from Steam.
Beeswax Games explained that a DMCA complaint was received and they are now trying to figure out what happened:
We are saddened to learn that the NPO project has been withdrawn from sale due to DMCA [copyright infringement]. We will not disclose the names of the parties due to possible litigation, but we firmly believe that this is an unfounded complaint. We are working to correct the situation as soon as possible. It is sad that the game was removed immediately after release and the start of our ARG, but we promise that the game will be restored as soon as possible.
In No Players Online, gamers are invited to explore a PC and a certain abandoned shooter game:
immerse yourself in a fully realized 90s virtual desktop environment. download games from an unknown gaming forum, browse files left by the previous owner, and peel back the digital layers to uncover the conspiracy of a mysterious capture-the-flag game
