Recently, players have once again remembered the horror game Cold Fear (2005). The reason for this was its unexpected removal from sale on Steam.
There are no explanations on the store page, the standard wording "Cold Fear is no longer available on the Steam store" is used.
While Ubisoft is listed as the publisher of Cold Fear, Atari previously acquired the rights to this project, as well as several others: I Am Alive, Child of Eden, Grow Home, and Grow Up.
Players speculate that the removal from sale is temporary and related to the transfer of rights. Some also suggest that they may be preparing a remaster of the game.
In Cold Fear, the developers presented the story of a coast guard officer who encounters an unexpected threat during a raid:
In a fierce Arctic storm, a mysterious Russian whaling ship sends out distress signals. As Coast Guard veteran Tom Hansen, you board the ship to investigate — and discover unimaginable horrors lurking beneath the ship's bloodstained decks.
