There are fans of the Half-Life franchise who are eagerly awaiting the announcement of a new game in November 2025. They are trying to find "Valve teasers" everywhere.
However, Gabe Follower, a well-known blogger and data miner in the community, recently addressed the community: "Expect nothing and you won't be disappointed."
He said that he could not get confirmation about the preparation of a trailer for a new project:
No, no new information. I couldn't get any confirmation about a possible trailer in development, nor any confirmation about [its showing] in the coming weeks. It's still only 2025, I have no idea where all the rumors about the announcement this week came from.
The statement of another well-known insider in the community, Tyler McVicker, came out on the same day as Gabe Follower. He explained it as a coincidence.
Tyler felt that the hype had reached a level where he became uncomfortable, so he "splashed some cold water to make sure people understand the reality as much as possible."
Just because we don't know the exact date of the announcement, and just because Valve can always postpone their plans, it doesn't mean that the game doesn't exist or has been canceled.
The current rumor is an announcement about 2025. It's about Valve software. But Valve can act like Valve [and not announce anything], and GabeF and I are trying to remind people of this, [the lack of an announcement in November] doesn't mean that HLX is canceled or made up.
HLX has been in production since at least 2021. I like the HOPE and fun that the community is experiencing, but some crazy behavior can ruin everything. Relax, take a walk, the game is almost here.
