Recently, Bungie managed to settle a dispute with a writer. Previously, Matthew Martino accused the developers of Destiny 2 of plagiarism.
The lawsuit was filed last year, with Matthew claiming that the Red Legion faction in Destiny 2, the Red War storyline, and some plot elements were taken from his work. For example, the lawsuit stated:
The similarity between Martino's invented antagonist — Yinnera — and the main antagonist of Destiny 2, Dominus Ghaul, is striking and clearly indicates something more than just a coincidence
In November 2025, it became known that this case was closed: negotiations were successful and led to the settlement of all claims. Details of the agreement have not yet been disclosed.
