Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition has been released on both Switch consoles, and player impressions have been mixed. The game appeared in the eShop without announcement, trailer, or marketing campaign, which came as a surprise to Lara Croft fans.
The Switch 2 version immediately attracted the attention of console owners who wanted to compare it with the PS5 release. The first comparisons of graphics and world detail have appeared online.
YouTuber ElAnalistaDeBits does not hide his disappointment with the port. Despite the more powerful hardware, the Switch 2 version is noticeably inferior to the 12-year-old PS4 edition. The simplification is especially noticeable in the details of hair, shadows, vegetation, and lighting. The developers added several trees and provided stable 60 FPS at a higher resolution than on PS4, where 60 frames were rare. The game remains enjoyable, but clearly does not unlock the console's potential.
The question remains open: what's next? The appearance of Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition on Switch 2 without announcement gives hope that Rise of the Tomb Raider and Shadow of the Tomb Raider will appear on the console in the future.
