The game was developed by Sam Prebble, the author of the shooter Turbo Overkill, and published by Apogee Entertainment in collaboration with Atari's Infogrames label. Total Chaos grew out of the famous WAD (set of levels) for DOOM II and has become a next-generation horror survival game. The modification has been completely redesigned and ported to a modern engine.
