"Xbox didn't plan for this situation in advance," the insider notes. The company may now either raise the price again to offset the increase in cost, or suspend production.
The competitor, PlayStation, is in a better situation. Sony bought RAM in advance at a low price, which will allow them to keep the cost of consoles stable for several more months.
"They have enough GDDR6. Prices may rise, but later, possibly next year," adds Moore’s Law Is Dead.
There is no official confirmation yet, but given the two price increases last year and the overall increase in console prices, new cost jumps look likely.
