Team Cherry did not rule out a new Hollow Knight installment after Silksong, but stated that the project would not be a direct sequel. This was revealed by Ari Gibson and William Pellen in an interview.
Silksong was released on September 4, 2025, and became a hit from the first days. The game gathered more than 5 million players in less than a week. About 3 million bought it on Steam, although the game was available on Xbox Game Pass.
The authors said that they were satisfied with the result: Silksong became the "best version of the original idea." Gibson clarified: "If there are ever other games, we would like them to exist next to each other," effectively ruling out the idea of Silksong 2.
Silksong started as DLC for Hollow Knight, announced back on Kickstarter in 2014, but in 2019 it turned into a standalone project. The studio is currently working on DLC for Silksong.
Judging by past experience, the new Team Cherry project will not be announced soon.
