There will be room for creativity, even if many focus on making a profit.
Recently, Rockstar Games co-founder Dan Houser participated in the Sunday Brunch program. The writer of Red Dead Redemption and GTA was asked where the gaming industry will move.
Houser sees two possible options:
You know, it can go either in an interesting creative direction, or in a direction where everything will be focused on making money. I think that with any commercial art, there is always a danger of getting distracted by money. However, there is still a large creative scene for creating vibrant narrative projects.
However, Dan Houser did not "declare one winner" - according to the creator, both directions of the industry will coexist:
I think both [directions] will win. I believe there will be two paths. We have already seen this in some areas of the gaming industry, where both approaches kind of win.
