Deus Ex fans have been waiting for a new game for a long time. Deus Ex Remastered was recently unveiled with a release in 2026, and rumors pointed to the development of a full-fledged installment.
However, according to a leak from documents of former Eidos-Montreal employees, the stealth game was in production but was quietly canceled. The information is based on data from the resume of a former lead game designer and design director at the studio.
The game designer's resume indicated work on an "old protagonist in a science fiction adventure stealth game." Fans believed it was the canceled Deus Ex. The developer himself was laid off during the cuts at Eidos-Montreal.
After the acquisition by Embracer Group in 2022, the studio faced internal restructurings. Management considered the series niche and risky for investment. Without project approval, a full-fledged sequel was halted.
Reddit user MikeStrawMedia reported that the studio is expecting new cuts and the situation is getting worse. Fans have almost lost hope for a new game. For now, the only new content is Deus Ex: Remastered.
