Discord is adding a feature that will allow players to purchase skins and other cosmetic items from selected games directly on their servers within the app.
The application is becoming a platform for selling digital skins. The feature will first appear for Marvel Rivals: users will be able to buy skins and gift them to friends.
Discord CTO Stan Vishnevsky noted:
We all have friends who play games we don't play, and they like things that we don't always like. This gives the developer the opportunity to reach the friends of potential customers.
In August, Discord changed its CEO: Jason Citron stepped down, and his place was taken by former King President and CFO Humam Sakhnini. Soon, the company launched interactive advertising and the virtual currency Orbs. Discord will receive a percentage of each such sale.
