Back in November, after numerous reviews, gamers learned that the Anbernic RG DS portable console had several notable flaws. Critics complained about uneven brightness, lag, refresh rate drops on the top display when both screens were active, and issues with DS game emulation.

Many had to install custom firmware to eliminate these unpleasant issues. Now, Anbernic has released official update 1.4 for the RG DS.

The update fixes a critical bug that caused the top screen's refresh rate to drop while the bottom screen was active. Thus, the infamous "40 Hz bug" that plagued the first batches of the device has been completely fixed.

Screen synchronization in Nintendo DS games has also been improved — this should eliminate the "rocking effect" observed, for example, in Sonic Rush. Simply put, the image is now displayed more clearly and synchronously.

In addition, independent backlight control has been added for each IPS display — a useful improvement for saving battery and comfortably adjusting brightness. Currently, the Anbernic RG DS without an additional SD card can be purchased for $93.99 (7218 rubles).
