Sometimes specific messages can be found in Steam reviews.
No More Robots founder Mike Rose recently spoke out on social media about Valve's policy regarding game reviews.
The reason for his dissatisfaction was the reviews of Little Rocket Lab on Steam — the project received "extremely positive" reviews, but at a certain point critics appeared. Their negative reviews lowered the rating and the overall reviews became "mostly positive."
Often these "negative reviews" contained only a few lines — the authors criticized the "agenda", but not the quality of the game itself.
I'm so tired of all this. Valve is doing nothing to solve the problem with these reviews. Everyone sees that it's getting worse and worse. Why haven't they put a filter for "DEI" yet? ["Diversity, Equity and Inclusion"] Why are they happy with what's happening now? I can't wrap my head around it.
Discussion participant gsalimando expressed the opinion that Valve is doing nothing because of Steam's monopoly:
That's the beauty of a monopoly: you don't have to care about customers when they have no choice but your service! What does it matter if they don't like the way you do business, or if you treat them like garbage! What are they going to do? Use something else? Thanks, Gabe!
