A modification for CS2 has caught the attention of lawyers.

Counter-Strike 2 has support for the "Steam Workshop." Enthusiasts are releasing various maps and game modes for the game.

Froddoyo offered the community Project Misriah: Halo Ports — a set of maps for CS2 that recreated Halo 3 multiplayer.

This isn't just a port of maps from the game series. The modder also created an arsenal in the style of Halo, adjusted mechanics and gravity, and added authentic sounds.

The project caught the attention of lawyers representing Microsoft, who sent a DMCA (Digital Millennium Copyright Act) notice. Valve was forced to remove the project:

Judith Woodward, acting on behalf of Microsoft Corporation, Inc., states that they are the copyright holder of the content [Halo 3 and Halo: The Master Chief Collection], and that your unauthorized use of Halo game content in the "Workshop," unrelated to Halo games, infringes their rights. We have temporarily removed your mods from Steam in accordance with legal requirements.

Developer Froddoyo announced the closure of the project:

Well... sorry guys, but Project Misriah is shutting down! It was fun. Don't forget to "thank" Microsoft...
