Original Tomb Raider co-creator Paul Douglas shared his opinion on the new Tomb Raider: Legacy of Atlantis game. On BlueSky, he noted Lara Croft's return but admitted that he would prefer to explore new locations rather than return to familiar ones.

She's apparently back. Personally, I'd rather explore new lost worlds than another remake/remaster of what we created in the 90s under great pressure. Let's hope that's the case.

Douglas also noted the visual component of both new games:

It's been a long time, it's time for another Tomb Raider game with a 90%+. I look forward to both new games. Visually, they are stunning, something we could only dream of 30 years ago. Let's see if the gameplay and spirit of exploration match expectations.

Legacy of Atlantis is being created on Unreal Engine 5 with story changes for a unified series chronology. Catalyst continues the events of Tomb Raider: Underworld 2008 and is designed as a standalone adventure for new players. Both games are slated for release on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S: Legacy of Atlantis is expected in 2026, Catalyst in 2027.
