According to Steam Replay 2025, on average, 40% of gaming time was spent by users in projects released eight or more years ago. This category includes popular games like Dota 2 and PUBG: Battlegrounds. Another 44% of the time was spent on games aged one to seven years.
As a result, only 14% of the total time in Steam was taken up by new PC games released in 2025.
The report also shows that the median number of games a Steam user plays per year is only four. This suggests that most players prefer to spend time in a limited set of projects, rather than constantly switching between new releases.
