The HDMI Licensing Administrator has confirmed that the first UltraHDMI 96 prototypes based on the HDMI 2.2 standard, approved in June 2025, will be shown at the exhibition. The interface bandwidth has increased from 48 to 96 Gbps. The new standard is designed for future devices; it supports 16K at 60 Hz (DSC), 4K uncompressed at 240 Hz, and 8K at 60 Hz with full 4:4:4 chroma subsampling; it provides 12-bit color depth and a new Latency Indication Protocol for accurate audio and video synchronization.

The HDMI LA booth will feature a 500 Hz gaming monitor connected to a PC and Xbox Series X to demonstrate the capabilities of the new standard. Mobile gaming with Nintendo Switch 2 and Atari Gamestation Go via HDMI with eARC support will also be demonstrated.

HDMI 2.2 is expected to appear in the next generation of video cards, including AMD RDNA 5, and the first certified UltraHDMI 96 cables will go on sale in 2026.
