The creators of the medieval city-building strategy game Manor Lords have released an update for the game with numerous changes. Players were previously able to evaluate it during beta testing, and now it is available in the main branch.
- The developers have reworked the food system; it is divided into several categories, including vegetables, meat, fish, and animal products.
- A rework of the requirements for building plots has been carried out — now a greater variety of products from different categories is required to increase the level of the plot. According to the developers, this "encourages the development of a more diverse diet."
- New garden options have appeared — in addition to apple trees, pears and quinces are available.
- "Vegetables" are now divided into cabbage, carrots, and beets.
- "Fish" is now divided into carp (from ponds) and eels (from the river).
- Deer in the forests have been replaced by small game.
- Deer have been replaced with small game, as "this is a more historically accurate option." Small game also yields hides.
- Honey is no longer used for consumption. In the future, it will have a new purpose, but for now, it can simply be sold.
- Updated castle construction system — players are given greater control over planning; each module can be improved and platforms can be attached to the castle walls.
The developers have removed many mechanics based on randomness in favor of more deterministic calculations to "make the balance of profitability more predictable (this applies, among other things, to resource extraction and farming, which previously depended on random factors)."
A new, more realistic development bonus system is being introduced: "now, at each level of settlement development, the player will have to make more informed, logical choices that reflect the current stage of settlement formation." The system is "in development", so only a small part of the planned bonuses is currently available.
