Larian Studios has started talking about the new Divinity and mentioned that AI tools are used in the work. This outraged some users online, as well as industry representatives.
However, Larian is not the only well-known studio that uses AI, for example, CD Projekt RED also talked about the use of AI during communication with investors.
One of the investors then asked:
Can you imagine that in the near future you will be able to reduce staff thanks to AI tools without compromising the work on your next projects?.
One of the CDPR directors, Michal Nowakowski, confirmed the use of AI, but clarified that it is used to improve work efficiency (it does not replace live developers):
[...] As for reducing staff thanks to AI, I don’t imagine that. We use AI mainly to increase productivity, and this is where we see the greatest benefits. These benefits are real, they are tangible, but this is not a situation where AI can "sit down and make a game." That is our vision. This does not mean that AI is useless - it just won’t make The Witcher 5 or 6, or something like that.
