In video games, developers sometimes take a creative approach to content loading. Instead of a banal screen, they sometimes play it out in the gameplay: the character can slowly crawl through a gap; stand and wait for the door to open, or ride in an opaque elevator.

Some members of the Cyberpunk 2077 community believe that CDPR used elevators to hide loading screens. However, this myth was recently refuted by one of the developers.

Cyberpunk 2 creative director Igor Sarzhinsky explained that "opaque" elevators are purely a creative decision, not a technical one — the CDPR engine allowed them to be made transparent if the developers wanted to:

No, the elevators in Cyberpunk are not "cleverly disguised loading screens." Do you really think that you can cross the entire city and enter a huge complex interior without a single loading screen, but at the same time we supposedly need some tricks with elevators to load the penthouse? [Opaque] elevators are located in certain places because it makes sense. We could have made them transparent if we wanted to. This engine is simply a miracle. I won't tolerate slander.
