The first installment was released in July 2018 on Nintendo Switch, and later on PC, Xbox One, PS4, and PS5. Octopath Traveler 2 appeared in 2023 on all platforms except Xbox, where the game launched in 2024. Both games received high marks for their role-playing mechanics and the unique paths of the eight playable characters.
In Octopath Traveler 0, the player creates their own hero and sets out to restore the ruined Wishveil, battling enemies and collecting seven powerful rings. The game features over 30 characters that can be added to the party or made residents of the town. Players can field eight units in battle and use ultimate abilities. A city development system is also available, allowing players to obtain resources.
The game is available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
