Xbox Falls Off the Agenda - Journalists Note a Decline in Interest in the Platform

In the gaming industry, there is increasing talk that the Xbox brand is losing its significance and ceasing to generate interest among players.

Alex Battaglia from Digital Foundry noted that in 2025, videos about Microsoft consoles are getting extremely low views. Even materials about major AAA games attract so little audience that it is becoming increasingly difficult for authors to find meaning in preparing new analyses of this platform.

Similar assessments are given by other experts. Journalist Jez Corden said that on his website, materials about Steam Deck are consistently read more often than any news about Xbox. According to him, this indicates a shift in audience interest towards other platforms, while the brand, which previously competed for leadership, has become neutral for many.

Battaglia stated:

Summing up the year, it is becoming increasingly difficult to justify the time spent on videos about Xbox games, in terms of return. Interest is minimal even in projects that were supposed to become hits. One can only guess what will happen next.

Financial indicators also look weak: in 2025, revenue from hardware sales decreased by almost 30%, and losses exceeded $100 million. According to rumors, only about 1 million Xbox Series X|S consoles were sold in a year.

The main problem is the lack of games that can set the tone for the current generation. None of Microsoft's exclusives in recent years has received a nomination for "Game of the Year," which is why Xbox is increasingly falling off the players' agenda.
